Curcumin is the active component of the rhizome of Turmeric (Curcuma longa). ‘Curcumin’ is often used as shorthand for the total curcuminoids, namely curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin –usually curcumin is the majority component.
